Colts Section 2010

Welcome to Copford Cricket Club.  We look forward to your son or daughter joining us for the 2010 season. We are pleased to advise you that all our coaches are qualified to ECB Level 1 or 2 and have current CRB, First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates. Our Child Welfare Officer is Andrea Turner.  We would ask that all parents and∕or carers discuss the Code of Conduct with their child before completing the membership form.

Registration forms should be forwarded direct to:     Alison Tuckwell

If you have any questions that are not covered in this letter please do not hesitate to contact me via email or phone.
Coaching Sessions: PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGES TO PRACTCE SESSIONS.

These commence from Monday 19th April
7-12 years (School Year 3-7): from Saturday 24th April
Saturday mornings  10am -11.30am
U13 & U14 (School Years 8 & 9): from Monday 19th April
Monday Evenings 6pm - 7.30pm
U15 & U16 (School Years 10 & 11): Wednesday 21st April
You will need to wear trainers and joggers.  All other equipment is available at the club. Please remember to bring with you a drink and a hat for those glorious sunny days.  In the event of rain the coaches will make a judgement once they have inspected the pitch as to whether training can go ahead.

The fees for this season have remained the same and are:
U11’s - £35.00                      U12’s-U16’s - £40.00
N.B. £5 reduction per family for 2 or more children registering.
If the coaches feel that a colt has reached the required standard they may be encouraged to play Senior Cricket.  The fees for Senior Cricket are not covered by Colts subscription and therefore colts will be expected to pay match fees of £2 per match (they get a very nice tea!) and they will be encouraged to wear a Copford Shirt.

Fixtures:
All fixtures will be available in the handbook and on this website.
In addition to the league fixtures for U11 – U16 teams, from time to time the Saturday morning Kwik cricketers enter local competitions and for the last two years we have been invited to enter a team in a tournament at the Ford County Ground under floodlights which has been a great experience for those involved.  We usually seek parental help for these competitions.

Team Kit:
The wearing of team shirts and caps will once again be encouraged when representing the club. An order form will be available in due course.

Personal Cricket Ball
All Colts playing hardball cricket will be expected to bring their own cricket ball. These are U11 – U13   youths size (4 ¾oz 135g) and U14 – U16 full size (5½ oz 156g). These are available to buy from the club at a cost of £4.50 each.

Getting Involved:
The successful running of the colts is down to parents and club members. In view of this, as many volunteers as possible are needed.
If you feel you could offer to put the flags out for the boundary, make and serve refreshments, serve at the bar, umpire a match, make a few phone calls, fill a few envelopes, help with transport or score a match please let us know.  If you have any hidden skills that could be put to good use around the club house or grounds please also let us know.
