Colts winter training starts on January 8th for 10 weeks and we cannot believe the response we have had from our vibrant youth section with nearly 50 young cricketers signed up and ready to follow in the footsteps of Ben Stokes. We look forward to seeing you all there.
To all members of Copford Cricket. As Chairman, I would like to thank all those members who helped with getting the ground and the facilities over the last few weeks ready for the coming season. This culminated in today's NatWest Cricket Force Day where the appearance of the pavilion has been transformed. We also celebrated the grand opening of the new 'Don Curtis Net Facility', which was officially opened by Councillor Beverly Davies a trustee of Cory Environmental Trust and our former Chairman, Don Curtis. As you know, Don was instrumental in securing the necessary funds from Cory Environmental Trust and it was a fitting tribute to name the new net facility after Don. We were also helped enormously on the day by NatWest Bank Lexden branch led by Manager, Sally Gathercole. Several Natwest employees came over to help get the ground and pavilion ready. We are also very grateful to NatWest for the very kind £250 donation. I would also like to thank Graham Pryke, Divisional Manager of Essex Cricket Board who was able to attend the event. We were one of four clubs in North Essex that Graham was able to visit on the day and this is testament to our club being seen to conduct its business in the right and proper way. We are also very grateful to Graham for his continued support for our club. Lots of photos were taken on the day of members getting stuck in with various jobs to get the ground and facilities ready for the coming season.
